FROM THE VALLEY TO THE MOUNTAIN (DO VALE À MONTANHA) Volume 2 is a captivating release from composers and multi-instrumentalists Louis Simão (Canada/Portugal) and Carlos Bernardo (Brazil/France). This musical collaboration blends original compositions with innovative renditions of traditional Portuguese folk songs. Along with Simão’s massive skills on accordion, piano, Fender Rhodes, and vocals as well as Bernardo’s virtuosity on guitars, oud, bouzouki and vocals, the album features Luis (Luisito) Orbegoso, Marito Marques, Rich Brown and special guests Suzi Silva, Jessica Lloyd and Gustavo Roriz.

The Love & resistance sessions

Writing music together as an act of resistance against the pandemic blues was the objective Patricia Cano and Louis Simão gave themselves in the summer of 2020. Long-time friends and musical collaborators, Cano & Simão applied for/and were granted a Digital Originals Canada Council grant, and the result is these four original songs - crafted with love in the time of Covid. “Dolly's Song” can be heard in Darlene Naponse's film “STELLAR”.

Critically acclaimed artist Louis Simão won World Solo Artist of the Year in the 2017 Canadian Folk Music Awards and his song “Três Anos" won Song of the Year in the 2017 International Portuguese Music Awards.
